Daniel Pacheco is the Deputy Director of La Silla Vacía, an independent digital news outlet that focuses on Colombian politics. He has covered politics for over 15 years as a journalist in TV, radio and print outlets. He studied philosophy at the National University of Colombia, later completing a specialization in journalism at Universidad de los Andes and a master’s degree in communication at Georgetown University.

He worked as a Washington correspondent for Caracol Radio, Caracol Televisión, and Blu Radio, and was a columnist for El Espectador for more than a decade. He developed and directed Zona Franca, a televised opinion and debate program on the Red+ (Redmás) channel, and has contributed to outlets such as El Espectador, La República, Vice, Soho, and Insight Crime.

Pacheco has been awarded the Simón Bolívar National Journalism Prize twice, as well as the Bogotá Journalists’ Circle (CPB) Award. He is also a co-author of Los presidenciables, written by the team at La Silla Vacía.
