Private retirement savings play a vital role in guaranteeing older Americans achieve financial security after work. Over the past few decades, issues such as inadequate savings, growth of illiquid assets as a source of retirement wealth, fiscal troubles facing Social Security, and higher healthcare and living costs have all contributed to the challenge of ensuring a dignified and financially secure retirement for all Americans. It’s time to find policy solutions that advance retirement security for working and retired Americans.
