Peter works for the European Commission's Trade Department, where today he is Director for Enforcement and Legal Affairs, as well as covering the Single Entry Point, SMEs and Trade and Security.

He has spent most of his career "building" Europe from the inside in a variety of roles and sectors, having graduated as a lawyer from Bristol University in the UK and the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium. He joined the Commission in 1992.

He has always had a strong focus on communication, whether in work to open up Europe's
telecoms markets in the 90s, as Commission spokesperson for the information society and
business or in roles covering the EU's economic reform agenda and as member of the transition team for Commission President Barroso. Prior to his current role he was Director for Policy Coordination, Inter-institutional relations, Communications and Resources from 2012-2020.

When not in the office, you can find him travelling or behind a camera. He is married with two (usually) grown up sons
