Gary Palmer represents Alabama’s 6th Congressional District, elected in 2014. He grew up in Hackleburg, Alabama, and was the first in his family to attend college, earning a B.S. in Operations Management from the University of Alabama, where he also played football under Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant.
Before Congress, Palmer worked in engineering and construction and founded the Alabama Policy Institute, a leading conservative think tank. He also served on the board of the State Policy Network and participated in multiple state commissions under three governors.
In Congress, Palmer focuses on border security, reducing inflation, regulatory reform, energy independence, health care affordability, fiscal responsibility, and protecting life. He serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, including as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Environment, and on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
He also holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Mobile.
