21st Century Piracy: Current Digital Piracy Harms and Solutions
Event Description
Digital piracy costs American businesses almost $77 billion annually, with approximately 80% of piracy attributable to illegal streaming. Businesses and the economy aren't the only ones harmed by digital piracy. The Chamber's research indicates that consumers are unaware of the significant harms associated with visiting pirate sites, including fraud, security risks, and the fact many of these sites maintain a nexus to criminal organizations.
Fighting digital piracy—and the criminal organizations behind pirate sites—requires a wide range of stakeholders coming together for a meaningful dialogue.
Please join us for the Global Innovation Policy Center’s 1st annual symposium on digital piracy. This in-person event will feature two panel discussions followed by a networking reception. The panels will address the global state of play for digital piracy, potential solutions, and best practices, as well as consumer harms, security risks, and the criminal nexus.
