A Make-or-Break Year for the International Rules-Based Order: A Keynote Address and Fireside Chat with European Commission EVP, Valdis Dombrovskis

Event Description

Please join us at the Chamber on January 30 for a public keynote address entitled, “2024: A Make-Or-Break Year for the Rules-Based International Order,” by European Commission Executive Vice President of "An Economy that Works for People" Valdis Dombrovskis. The EVP will speak immediately ahead of the ministerial of the US-EU Trade & Technology Council.  He will share insights on the need for joint transatlantic leadership to sustain the rules-based global order, including sustained support to Ukraine against Russia’s continued aggression,  and on the importance of the TTC as a platform to advance ties in response to national and economic security challenges.

EVP Dombrovskis’ portfolio, “An Economy that Works for People,” is a broad remit, with all facets related to EU trade policy as its centerpiece. He is one of two EU officials co-chairing the US-EU TTC and has been a staunch and consistent advocate for ever closer transatlantic ties. The EVP has held his current post since 2019 and previously served as Commission Vice President for the Euro and Social Dialogue (2014-2019) and as Prime Minister of Latvia (2009-2014).

A light breakfast buffet and coffee will be served from 8:00 - 8:30 am before the main event.

This event will take place at the U.S. Chamber. A livestream will be available for those unable to join in-person. Please indicate in your registration if you'll join in-person or virtually.
