Jim Bendernagel, a Director at Citi Community Capital (CCC), originates construction and permanent mortgage loans and related financings with a specialization in multifamily affordable housing. He works closely with for-profit and non-profit developers, local and state housing finance agencies, and low-income tax credit syndication firms to structure and close affordable housing transactions with a focus in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions.
Mr. Bendernagel joined CCC in 2016 as part of the underwriting group and joined project finance origination team in 2019. Previously, he was responsible for managing and overseeing the resolution of distressed tax credit properties at an investment management firm specializing in the multi-family housing sector. He worked at the firm (and its predecessors) for 10 years serving a variety of business groups, including special asset management, capital transactions, and tax credit equity underwriting.
Mr. Bendernagel was born and raised in Reston, Virginia. He received a B.A. in Politics with Honors from New York University, and an M.P.A. with a focus in Public Policy from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service.
