Speaker Bio
Irica Solomon is Vice President of Global Government Relations leading federal policy strategy on behalf of the U.S. business at MetLife. In this role, Irica draws on over two and half decades of experience in Washington, D.C., the financial services industry and other global companies to effectively represent MetLife with elected officials and before executive branch agencies.
Irica’s broad experience to navigate complex legislative and regulatory issues has been integral in her efforts to create and strengthen government affairs operations. Her recommendations have improved organizations’ market standing and exponentially increased networking and exposure to new sets of coalitions and constituencies.
Prior to joining MetLife, she served on both sides of the political aisle as Special Assistant to President Clinton for Legislative Affairs and as a legislative aide to former Representative Tom Davis, (R-VA). She spent many years developing and implementing public policy strategies for companies and trade associations across a wide-range of issues with a focus in financial services and tax. Her portfolio also includes a history of developing and leading national political programs.
Irica received her master’s degree in public policy administration from George Washington University and her B.A. in political economics from Syracuse University. Irica is born and (mostly) bred in the Washington, D.C. area, as is her husband Tom and both remain lifelong delusional Washington Football Team fans. They currently reside in Arlington, Virginia with their dog Sully and are active in the Humane Society International working to protect and serve animals globally.
