Osaruyi Orobosa-Ogbeide is an accomplished business executive with international experience, focusing on financing infrastructure projects across Africa by developing projects and teams that implement multi-million-dollar projects in mining, renewable energy, power, transport, telecoms and heavy manufacturing. A solutions and result - oriented leader with proven strategies for implementing new ideas in new markets and creating effective and dynamic teams that execute on the corporate strategic vision. Track record of spearheading operational improvements, achieving high productivity and effectively managing costs, with an ability to excel in dynamic and fast paced environments while remaining pragmatic.
Osaruyi currently serves as Senior Vice President Project Development and Investments, at the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), where he is responsible for AFC’s project development efforts, business development and project origination. He also has in the past managed the AFC-FMO joint project development facility, which deployed early-stage investment to projects to achieve bankability. He is the Alternate Director on the Board of the Africa Infrastructure Development Association (AfIDA), a signature, innovative and strategic initiative of AFC that seeks to foster the advancement of project development activities on the African continent. He was a former Board Member of Day Star Power Nigeria.
Osaruyi executed AFC’s first platform investment in the Gabon Special Economic Zone (GSEZ), alongside the Gabonese government and Olam International, a long-time player in Gabon’s agro-industrial and infrastructure space. The investment supported development and construction of a portfolio of seven portfolio projects, industrial economic zones, and common infrastructure. He is currently leading the development of several renewable projects at AFC. He recently led the origination, development, and financing of AFC’s 60MW wind farm in Djibouti, which is under construction and is leading the development of several projects on the continent, and where he serves as Project Director (acting CEO) of the operating company, Red Sea Power.
Prior to his current role, Osaruyi joined AFC in 2012, as Strategy & Planning Officer and Special Assistant to the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) where he was responsible for strategy planning and execution, business development and origination.
Osaruyi began his career with Financial Derivatives Company – a boutique investment banking firm in Lagos, in November 2007 as an economic research analyst and left the company as head of Financial Advisory. Osaruyi has an MBA from Lagos Business School, a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Benin and has attended several trainings in project finance, financial modelling, writing and public speaking, entrepreneurship, a corporate governance course at IMD and other leadership courses at the London Business School.
