Beth Roberts is the Managing Director for Policy covering Africa and the Middle East, North Africa (MENA) regions at the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC). In this role, Beth advises the Corporation’s senior leadership on foreign policy matters in these strategically important regions where DFC has more than $11 billion in exposure across debt, equity, political risk insurance and technical assistance transactions. Beth engages with interagency colleagues and external stakeholders at the nexus of development finance, foreign policy, and impact to ensure DFC’s unique set of financial tools are deployed to advance US foreign policy priorities while also achieving development impact.
Prior to joining DFC, Beth worked for more than a decade at the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), including as an Advisor in the Office of the Chief Executive Officer, and a Senior Program Officer on MCC’s team charged with harnessing blended finance tools to increase private sector investment in MCC partner countries. In these roles, Beth advised on Compacts across the global portfolio, with a particular focus on Africa and South Asia.
Early in her career, Beth served as a small enterprise development volunteer in Peace Corps Mali and as a Manager at APCO Worldwide, counseling domestic and international health care clients in policy and public affairs.
Beth is a Truman National Security Project Security Fellow. She lives with her husband and two daughters in Washington, DC.
