Dr. Dele Alake is the Honourable Minister of Solid Minerals Development
of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, where he leads the strategic
transformation of the country’s mining sector into a globally
competitive and sustainable industry. Appointed in 2023 by President
Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Dr. Alake is championing bold reforms to attract
investment, formalize artisanal mining, combat illegal operations, and
drive local value addition. With a distinguished background as a former
Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Lagos State and a trusted
advisor to the Presidency, Dr. Alake brings over three decades of
experience in governance, public communication, and policy strategy. A
graduate of the University of Lagos with degrees in Political Science
and Mass Communication, he is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Guild of
Editors and a nationally respected voice in extractive sector reform.
