Juan Alberto Leautaud is a Senior Executive with 28 years of experience investing in real assets and with a significant background in strategy and consulting. Mr. Leautaud is currently a Senior Advisor to BlackRock’s Financial Markets Advisory Group on Infrastructure related matters. Since 2015 and until january of 2022, Mr. Leautaud was Managing Director and Head of BlackRock's Latinamerica Infrastructure Investment Group; a private equity group with approximately $1 billion usd under management. As Head of this group, Mr. Leautaud was responsible for the identification, structuring, execution and asset management of transactions in the energy, highway, airport, port, water and social infrastructure sectors. These transactions encompass an asset base of 6.5+ billion usd. Mr. Leautaud also served as a member of the Global ESG Real Assets Executive Committee. In that role, he actively shaped the integration of ESG policies and their reporting into independent agencies such as GRESB and SASB for the Global Real Assets portfolio at BlackRock, including the Fund specifically under his purview. This has resulted in an A+ rating of all BlackRock Real Asset Funds by GRESB. Prior to joining BlackRock, in 2010 Mr. Leautaud was a Co-founder of I2, the leading infrastructure investment manager in Mexico. While in I2, Mr. Leautaud served in a similar capacity to his current role, managing a portfolio of assets worth approximately $2 billion usd. Before founding I2, he also served as Chief Operating Officer at Mexico Retail Properties. In this position, Mr. Leautaud developed and managed a real estate portfolio comprising 17 properties, with approximately 500k square meters of GLA. During his tenure, he led the scaling up of Mexico Retail Properties, taking it from an annual revenue of $20 to more than $1,500 million pesos and creating a portfolio with more than 1,300 tenants. Mr. Leautaud has also been an entrepreneur focused on development and management of residential and industrial real estate. Between 1995 and 2002, Mr. Leautaud was part of McKinsey & Co. as Associate Principal, focusing on the transportation, energy and telecom sectors. While at McKinsey, he developed business plans for companies in a wide range of industries, including a B2B internet platform, a state-owned energy company and a 34 airport network. Mr. Leautaud is an active VC investor, serving as advisor and occasionally Board Member of a number of startups in the Real Estate, Fintech and Education sectors. He also serves on the Board of Special Olympics Mexico. Mr. Leautaud holds a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering, Magna Cum Laude, from Universidad Iberoamericana (1993) and an MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering and an MBA, both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
