Antitrust Webinar Series: Focus on Mergers

Event Description

Mergers and acquisitions play an important role in a healthy economy as the vast majority of proposed mergers produce clear efficiencies that translate into gains for consumers. Mergers are presumed lawful under antitrust law, but proposed transactions of a certain size must be notified to the government. Once notified, the government has the opportunity to closely examine the merger for any concern, require changes to the terms of the deal, or ultimately move to block it in court.

This session will look at the process of merger review, what happens with those transactions that raise potential anticompetitive concerns, and whether the antitrust agencies and the courts have the necessary tools to block problematic mergers.
