As President and CEO of the American Chemistry Council (ACC), Chris Jahn is the leader of one of America’s most essential, innovation driven industries and drives the national conversation on what it takes to strengthen U.S. manufacturing competitiveness. His leadership reflects a core belief: competitiveness is a choice, and American chemistry must be central to America’s economic and industrial leadership.
Under his leadership, Chris has advanced a manufacturing competitiveness-driven agenda, through ACC’s Chemistry Creates, America Competes campaign. On behalf of hundreds of members, Chris works closely with bipartisan policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders to elevate the role of chemistry in building a stronger, more affordable, and more resilient America through predictable, science based policies.
Chris has helped reframe the national conversation around the role of chemistry in strengthening U.S. manufacturing, energy security, supply chain resilience, and affordability for American families. He works to advance industry investment and growth while safeguarding public health and the environment, in part through his leadership of ACC’s flagship environmental, health, and safety program, Responsible Care®.
Chris has been named by The Hill as one of Washington, DC’s “Top Lobbyists” and by the Washingtonian as one of DC’s “Most Influential People” for representing the U.S. business of chemistry and its users within the halls of Congress. As the leading voice of the chemical industry, he works to ensure the United States remains the best place in the world to manufacture the chemicals and materials that power nearly every sector of the economy. His leadership advances ACC’s vision of making America the global leader in innovating and manufacturing chemicals and plastics.
Prior to joining ACC, Chris served as President and CEO of The Fertilizer Institute, president of the National Association of Chemical Distributors, and President of the Contract Services Association. He began his career on Capitol Hill, including time as chief of staff to U.S. Senator Craig Thomas (R-WY).
