Educated at London University and London Business School, after working in
both finance and energy, Gregory Barker served as a Conservative member of
Parliament from 2001 to 2015. Between 2010 and 2014, he served as Energy and
Climate Change Minister and was made Lord Barker of Battle in 2015.

He played a key role in passing the landmark Climate Change Act (2008), saw the
launch of the Electricity Market Reform Act, expanded the UK solar sector and introduced the world’s first
Renewable Heat Incentive. He oversaw the creation of the UK Green Investment Bank, as well as introducing
a new phase of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme and represented the UK at UN climate summits.

In 2017, he joined London-listed En+ Group, the world’s largest producer of low carbon aluminum and
independent hydropower. Executive Chairman since 2019, in 2021 he committed the Group to reaching
industry leading GHG targets; net zero by 2050 and a 35% reduction by 2030.

He is co-chair of the World Bank Group’s Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition (CPLC). In addition, he is
founding chairman of EVN, the leading fast charging Electric Vehicle infrastructure company and chair of the
advisory board of Powerhive Inc, Africa’s leading provider of microgrids for the rural poor.
