Speaker Bio
Chris Herron is a native of Aiken, SC, graduated from The Citadel, and served over 20 years as an officer in the US Navy. During this period, he worked in the Middle East, East Asia, Central Asia and Southeast Asia, as well as New England, the Mid-Atlantic, Southern California, and aboard ships sailing most of the seven seas. While on active duty, Chris earned two graduate degrees: an MA from the US Navy War College and an MBA from the University of Michigan. He spent his last 14 years in uniform as an intelligence officer, supporting operational and strategic decision making for warfighters, the National Security Council, and members of the US Intelligence Community. During this time, he gained an appreciation for the tremendous depth and breadth of the cyber security challenges facing the world from nation states, terrorists, and criminals.
Today, Chris is blessed with an incredible opportunity to continue to serve, just in a different way. He uses his national security experience and business understanding to help the people and companies of SC better negotiate the ever-evolving cyber security landscape and understand what they can do to minimize its risk to their customers, employees, and businesses. When he’s not helping solve complex cyber security problems, Chris enjoys spending time with immediate and extended family and is an active member of the community, volunteering time to support professional IT and cyber security organizations, as well as community service initiatives.
