At Reliable Robotics, Doug leads the legal function and implementation of strategic initiatives to bring remotely piloted capabilities to commercial aviation. Doug has a passion for everything aviation and brings to the table more than 30 years of diverse legal experience in government and industry.

Prior to Reliable Robotics, he most recently served as General Counsel and Executive Vice President of Governance and Compliance for Aerion Corporation and its subsidiaries, Aerion Supersonic and Aerion Technologies. Doug began his career as a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice Aviation & Admiralty Section where he tried more than a dozen cases and was the recipient of numerous awards for meritorious service, including the FAA Chief Counsel award for his work on litigation stemming from the 1985 Delta Flight 191 windshear accident at DFW. Since leaving government service in 1999, Doug has worked in senior leadership and in-house counsel roles for leading companies within the Aerospace & Defense industry including Curtiss-Wright Corporation, BAE Systems, and Spirit AeroSystems.

Doug is a licensed commercial pilot and CFII with 2,200 hours of flight experience. He obtained a BBA in Aviation Administration from the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences at the University of North Dakota, graduating magna cum laude in three years. He received his law degree from the Penn State Dickinson School of Law where he was a member of the school’s National Appellate Moot Court team and Woolsack Honor Society. Doug is a member of the Pennsylvania and Wisconsin Bars.
