Colonel Aniello VIOLETTI was born in Naples on January 17th, 1975.

He started his career in 1994 enlisting as pilot in the Air Force Academy where he got his master’s degree in Aeronautical Sciences.

In July 1999 he graduated at the European Joint Jet Pilot Training - Sheppard Air Force Base (Texas) receiving his Military Wings.

In 2000 he successfully attended the TORNADO Operational Conversion Course at the 102nd Squadron of the 6th Wing in Ghedi , and in 2001 he was assigned to the 155th Squadron (electronic warfare) where he was awarded the qualification of Combat Ready pilot on the TORNADO ECR aircraft. In March 2004 he was assigned to the Italian Flight Test Center. In November 2004 he obtained a master's degree in Political Science at the University of Trieste and in December 2005 he was awarded the qualification of Experimental Test Pilot at the Test Pilot School of Edwards Air Force Base (California).

Between 2005 and 2017, as experimental test pilot, he managed mainly experimental flight test activities relating to the Tornado and AMX ACOL aircraft, holding the positions of Head of the Attack Aircraft Section, Head of Operations Service, Head of Operations Office, and Commander of the 311st test squadron. He was selected as Italian display pilot of the MB339CD aircraft in 2010, the AMX ACOL aircraft in 2011/12, and the Tornado aircraft in 2013.

In June 2015 he attended a post graduated Master in International Strategic-Military Studies at ISSMI in Rome.

In September 2017 he held the position of Head of the "Innovation for Aerospace" Office of the Air Force General Office for Space managing mainly ITAF suborbital flight strategies. Soon after, in October 2018 he held the position of Deputy Head of the Air Force General Office for Space.

In July 2019 he attended a Post graduated Master in Institutions and Space Policies at the Italian Society for the International Organization (SIOI).

In October 2019 he held the position of Head of the Space and Aerospace policies in the Office of the Prime Minister's Military Advisor at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

Since 21 July 2021 he has been working at the Embassy of Italy in Washington DC holding the position of Space Attaché.

Since October 2019 he is an associate member of the National Research Council.

He has over 3500 military flight hours on 51 different aircraft to his credit.

He was awarded the title of Knight of the Italian Republic.
