U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran was first elected to the United States Senate in 2011. Prior to his election to the Senate, Sen. Moran served Kansans in the “Big First” Congressional district for seven terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as eight years in the Kansas State Senate.

Sen. Moran is a senior member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation and serves as the Ranking Member of the Commerce Subcommittee on Aviation Safety, Operations and Innovation and helped introduce and pass the FAA Reauthorization Act this spring. Sen. Moran is also a member of the Senate Committee on Appropriations where he serves as the Vice Chair on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies. This role allows him to lead the funding decisions that impact men and women working at NASA, NSF and NOAA.

Sen. Moran is also a member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense and Transportation, Housing and Urban Development.

Kansas is home to the ‘Air Capital of the World’ and through his committee assignments, Sen. Moran advocates for Kansans and many issues vital to the state’s economy, including the aviation industry.

Sen. Moran serves as a member of several caucuses that enhance his ability to represent Kansans' interests in the United States Senate, including co-chair of the Senate Aerospace Caucus, the Senate Travel and Tourism Caucus, and is a member of the Senate General Aviation Caucus. He is also the co-chair and co-founder of the new Sustainable Aviation Caucus to advance industry-wide sustainability efforts and maximize its financial sustainability.
