Jill Blickstein is Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer at American, where she leads the airline’s sustainability strategy, reporting and stakeholder engagement. In this role, she leads development of the company’s disclosure strategy and its disclosures on environmental and social metrics. With her deep experience in corporate responsibility and public policy, Jill works within American and across the aviation industry to find solutions to lower the climate impact of air travel.
Most recently, Jill was American’s Managing Director and Head of Environment, Social and Governance (ESG), leading the company’s work on its ESG goals, strategy, reporting and stakeholder engagement. Under her leadership, American became the first airline in the world to receive validation for its intermediate, science based climate change goals and for the first time was added to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index.
Jill is Chair of the International Air Transport Association’s Sustainability and Environment Advisory Council and serves on the Business Environmental Leadership Council of the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions. She earned her bachelor’s degree in public policy from Duke University and a master’s degree in public policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
