Anil Antony is an Assistant United States Attorney at the United States Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles, where he serves as Deputy Chief of the Cyber & Intellectual Property Crimes Section. Anil has led some of the Office’s most significant cases, including being a member of the team working with the FBI to investigate, disrupt, and prosecute North Korean hackers for a wide-ranging series of crimes. As part of that investigation, Anil was involved in filing the first-ever charges against a North Korean state hacker for malicious cyber-activity in 2018, a successful effort to map and disrupt a botnet used by North Korean hackers, and a three-defendant indictment unsealed in February 2021. Anil has also investigated and prosecuted an 80-defendant Nigerian fraud and money laundering case, multiple high-level money launderers for hackers, Russian hackers, and a Chinese intellectual property crime conspiracy, among other matters. Anil received the Attorney General’s 2019 Award for Distinguished Service and the National Counterintelligence and Security Center’s 2019 Countering Cyber and Technical Threats Award. Prior to joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Anil was an associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles doing white collar criminal defense, and clerked for the Honorable Paul C. Huck, United States District Judge, in the Southern District of Florida.
