Cybersecurity Legislation

In the past several months, two capable and sophisticated national state adversaries have carried out significant cyber-enabled espionage campaigns against the U.S. and an indiscriminate range of public and private sector targets. Over that same period, a new Congress and President have been sworn into office, ushering in new policy priorities. During this program, Senator Mark Warner, chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, will share his learnings through the committee's oversight hearings and investigations. Chairman Warner will also discuss the committee's consideration for national cybersecurity legislation, including federal protected and preemptive notification requirements, which may be introduced to enhance national and economic security resilience. Also, representatives from the U.S. Cyberspace Solarium Commission will discuss their year two legislative priorities for advancing a new strategic approach, i.e., layered cyber deterrence, to defending the U.S. in cyberspace against cyberattacks of significant consequences.
