Madeleine currently serves as SBP’s fellow in the City of Mobile’s Office of Resilience, where she advises on and advocates for policies and initiatives that make Mobile more resilient to disasters.
She obtained a Bachelor's in Arabic, Political Science, and Economics with an emphasis in International Conflict at the University of Mississippi. Madeleine has spent her undergraduate career studying how natural disasters impact development, security, and peacebuilding, with a particular focus on water resources and coastal enviornments. She has conducted qualitative research in Japan, Bosnia, Croatia, Austria, Switzerland, and Morocco. Her senior thesis combines a variety of quantitative and qualitative analyses and theoretical models to assess the impact of dams on interstate riparian bargaining, with a focus on the Nile River Basin.
Madeleine is Alabama’s 2023 Truman Scholar, a Stamps Scholar, and a University of Mississippi Taylor Medalist. She is passionate about taking multidisciplinary approaches to analyze water issues in post-conflict and post-disaster environments. Madeleine is an avid reader, traveler, and museum enthuisast. In her free time, she loves exploring her own local environment with her dog Biscuit.
