Erica Suares is a Senior Policy Advisor to US Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY). In this role, she is Leader McConnell’s chief external liaison, with a primary focus on the business community, as well as policy and political organizations. Erica's policy work primarily focuses on tax, trade, and banking issues. Erica also serves as McConnell's internal liaison to Senate offices, and helps coordinate policy planning across the Senate Republican Conference and with the Administration.

Erica focuses on building coalitions around numerous policy areas of interest to industry leaders and businesses. She started her career in state politics, working for former Governor of Alabama Bob Riley. She then worked at the federal level, first in the White House Office of Political Affairs under President George W. Bush, then at The Heritage Foundation in Senate Relations, and later as a Policy Advisor and Acting Legislative Director to former Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC). She also served as the Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs to Governor Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign, specifically as his liaison to the US Senate.

Throughout Erica’s career she has helped to ensure outside policy ideas and interests have a place in legislative debates. Her interests range from studying and strengthening our institutions to promoting free market economics.

Erica lives in Washington, D.C. and is an avid watercolor artist. She holds a Bachelor's degree from Auburn University, and Master's degrees from Vanderbilt and Harvard Universities
