The Defense and Aerospace Council
invites you to an exclusive virtual discussion with
The Honorable Alan Estevez
Under Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Security
Monday, October 17th
2:00 p.m.-3:00p.m. EST.
On behalf of the Defense and Aerospace Council we invite you to mark your calendars for an exclusive discussion with the Honorable Alan Estevez, Under Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Security on Monday, October 17th 2-3PM EST.
The Secretary leads the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) and is willing to discuss Foreign Investment Risk Review Modernization Act (FIRRMA) and the Export Control Reform Act (ECRA). Since these acts became law in 2018, implementation has been delayed and bi-partisan pressure is mounting with calls for action. We will hear the latest on this Administration’s implementation plan. The U.S. Department of Commerce can now prohibit or otherwise restrict certain information and communications technology and services (ICTS) transactions that pose an undue or unacceptable risk to U.S. national security. As ICTS has been assigned to BIS, we will hear about the plan to implement this new tool and the Administration’s request of Congress to fund this new mission. Additional discussion topics will include outbound investment reviews, Russia sanctions, recently reported alliance of nations planning sanctions against China if they invade Taiwan, and BIS workforce talent hiring, retention and skills needed for the future.
