Virtual Briefing on China's Energy and Climate Landscape

The China Center is pleased to invite members to join us for a virtual briefing on China's energy and climate landscape with Stephanie Duran, Energy Attaché and Director of the DOE China Office at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing and Stephen Green, Acting Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs at the U.S. Embassy, Beijing. The program will also feature the following U.S. Embassy speakers:
- William Toerpe, Energy Officer, Foreign Commercial Service
- Travis Glynn, Energy Officer, Department of State
- Forest Yang, Environment, Science, Technology and Health Chief, Department of State
- Garrett McDonald/Chase McGrath, Agricultural Attaché, Foreign Agricultural Service
Stephanie Duran currently serves as the Energy Attaché and Director of the Department of Energy (DOE) China Office at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing. In this role, she is responsible for advancing U.S. national security and economic interests by supporting the development of DOE and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) policies, priorities, and initiatives with China. This is Stephanie’s second tour at DOE China—she served as the Deputy Director from 2011-2014 where she bolstered DOE’s and NNSA’s bilateral relationship with China on nonproliferation, nuclear energy, and fossil energy issues.
Stephen Green serves as the Acting Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing. In March 2019, Stephen assumed the duties of Counselor for Commercial Affairs at the U.S. Embassy where he co-managed Commerce's 130-strong team in Beijing and the five Consulates General across mainland China. From 2016 to 2018, Stephen served as Deputy Director in the Office of Foreign Service Human Capital (OFSHC), and before that, he was the Principal Commercial Officer at the Consulate General in Shenyang responsible for helping American companies develop relationships with business partners in northeast China.
PLEASE NOTE: Following the meeting, the Energy and Infrastructure Working Group will be holding its annual strategy session to discuss members' 2022 priorities from 8:00-8:30pm ET. We look forward to hearing your company's advocacy, engagement, and policy goals for the year. This will also be an opportunity to discuss opportunities and challenges ahead in energy and related sectors.
