Event Description

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Chamber Foundation, Allstate and the Charleston Metro Chamber invite you to join us for a Disaster Resilience Forum on Wednesday, December 10.

In 2024, the U.S. faced 27 separate billion-dollar disasters, totaling over $182 billion in damages. As severe weather events become more frequent and costly, the need for proactive resilience planning is urgent.

This year’s forum centers on Beyond the Payoff, a new report from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Allstate that reveals the high cost of underinvestment in disaster preparedness. The findings show that every $1 not invested today can cost communities up to $33 in lost future economic activity, and in hurricane-prone areas, resilience funding can help prevent the loss of more than 70,000 jobs.

Join us on December 10th, to explore how strategic investments in resilience can protect lives, stabilize local economies, and strengthen communities. We’ll highlight six key “Levers of Resilience” that local leaders can use: from infrastructure upgrades to community engagement, and share actionable insights for businesses, policymakers, and communities.
