USG Update/Special Briefing on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework

Event Description

Please join a virtual, multi-association briefing detailing U.S. steps to operationalize the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (DPF). U.S. government representatives from the Department of Commerce, Department of Justice, and Office of the Director of National Intelligence will conduct the briefing, followed by Q&A with private sector stakeholders.

Background

Per recent media reports, the European Union is expected to sign off on the EU-US DPF by the middle of July. Prior to the EU’s adoption of its “adequacy decision” for the U.S., there are a series of steps the U.S. has committed to undertake, as outlined in President Biden’s October 2022 executive order.

Once in place, the EU-U.S. DPF is expected to return stability and predictability to the data flows that underpin the $7.1 trillion transatlantic relationship. The agreement is critical to providing companies of all sizes the legal certainty they need to transfer, analyze, and utilize data on both sides of the Atlantic.
