Private Sector Consultation on the G7 Sustainability Initiative

Event Description

Private Sector Consultation on the G7 Initiative to Increase Business Action for a

Sustainable, Resilient Food and Agriculture Sector

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s International Affairs Department (IAD) and the USAID Bureau for Resilience and Food Security (RFS) are delighted to invite you for a private sector consultation on the “G7 Initiative to Increase Business Action for a Sustainable, Resilient Food and Agriculture Sector”. This consultation will be held on June 23, 2021, from 9:00 am – 10:00 am EST, via videoconference.

This exclusive consultation aims at bringing together leading international food and agriculture companies from G7 countries to commit to improving the environmental, social, and nutritional impact of their operations and supply chains. This initiative will support the global effort to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the action tracks set out by the UN Food Systems Summit (UNFSS).

In particular, this initiative seeks to engage leading food and agriculture companies in G7 countries to have a better understanding of their ongoing efforts, challenges faced, and willingness to commit to further action for transforming food systems to be more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient.

Thus, the private sector consultation will examine the following issues:

  1. What are companies' willingness to sign up to a voluntary commitment to act against a broad range of issues within sustainable supply chains, including environmental, social inclusion, and nutrition issues?
  2. What is the best way to measure this commitment, including whether the WBA’s Food and Agriculture Benchmark is an appropriate benchmark for these purposes? For a full overview, please see the methodology for the Food and Agriculture Benchmark).

Please reach out to Ellasandra Walsh at ewalsh@uschamber.com with any questions.
