USJBC In-Person Breakfast Roundtable with the Honorable KONO Taro – Tues., May 3 @ 8:30am EDT

Please join us for an off-the-record in-person roundtable with the Honorable KONO Taro (bio), Member of the House of Representatives, the National Diet of Japan, on Tuesday, May 3 from 8:30 – 9:45 am EDT. Kono is best known as a liberal, outspoken veteran lawmaker and top contender to become future Prime Minister of Japan. During the most recent LDP Presidential Election in September 2021, Kono generated the most enthusiasm and support in public opinion polls, but ultimately came in second place after current Prime Minister Kishida. A graduate of Georgetown University, Kono has held several key Cabinet positions in the Suga and Abe Cabinets, including as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Defense, and Administrative and Regulatory Reforms. Most recently, he served as the Minister overseeing Japan’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout.

This in-person roundtable will be a unique opportunity for USJBC members to exchange frank views with the Hon. Kono on Japan’s foreign and economic policies, as well as share with him U.S. corporate priorities in Japan.
