Lebanon: Economic Recovery Prospects

Event Description

Lebanon is at an inflection point in an historic economic crisis, with a newly formed government tasked with providing critically needed relief measures and mobilizing international support. At the same time, a range of reforms are crucial to setting the country on a path to recovery. This forum will bring together leaders from the new Lebanese government and the private sector to share their priorities and plans to pull the country out of its tailspin and highlight opportunities for expanded commercial cooperation between Lebanon and the U.S. The newly appointed Minister of Economy and Trade, His Excellency Amin Salam, will provide an update on the economic situation and the steps the government is taking to address the crisis. The President of the Association of Lebanese Industrialists (ALI), Dr. Fady Gemayel, will share a business agenda for economic revitalization and investment opportunities in the private sector. ALI represents more than 700 firms in the manufacturing sector, a pillar of the country’s economy with an outsized effect on growth and job creation. A moderated Q&A with the audience will follow presentations by the speakers.
