Special Representative Syed recently returned from a visit to Portugal where he discussed commercial opportunities for U.S. companies. The government of Portugal is keen to expand opportunities for U.S. companies to push back against a recent tide of state-backed foreign investment from third countries including China and Russia.

The Ambassador and Special Representative are eager to connect with U.S. companies in several key sectors, including lithium mining and refining, renewable energy including offshore wind and hydrogen, shipping, and port infrastructure.

This conversation will be an opportunity for member companies to meet with key U.S. government representatives in Portugal, and to learn more about potential upcoming commercial opportunities. Special Representative Syed is planning similar engagements in other markets.
