Ms. Charlotte Petri Gornitzka took up her position as Director General for the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB), in December 2021.

Ms. Petri Gornitzka has over twenty years of experience in international development cooperation. For the past three years, she has served as Assistant Secretary-General for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

Before joining UNICEF she was the Chair of the Development Assistance Committee at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and prior to that she was the Director General for the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) for six years.

She has also served as Secretary-General of the International Save the Children Alliance, Save the Children Sweden, and as Under-Secretary-General and Director of Communications at the Swedish Red Cross.

Ms. Gornitzka has a background in management consulting with a focus on change management and communications. She studied at the Stockholm University College of Music Education.

She and her partner have two and six children, respectively.

Dr. Åke Holmgren is head of the Cybersecurity and Secure Communications Department at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB). Dr. Holmgren has more than 20 years of experience in cyber security and critical infrastructure protection from various government functions in Sweden, including the Swedish Defense Research Agency (FOI) and the Swedish Emergency Management Agency (SEMA). He has been a member of the Norwegian Commission on the digital vulnerability of society.

Dr. Holmgren has been Visiting Scholar at the Institute for Civil Infrastructure Systems, Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, New York University. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Risk and Safety Analysis, and a M.Sc. degree in engineering, both from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, and a B.Sc. degree in business administration and economics from Stockholm University.
