Dr. Avi Simhon currently serves as the chairman for Israel’s National Economic where he supports the Prime Minister on topics requiring robust economic thought, assists in decision-making processes, and supports projects on the Prime Minister's agenda. Prior to becoming the chairman, Dr. Simhon also served as the chief economic advisor to Israel’s Minister of Finance.
In the academic community, Dr. Simhon has served as an economics professor at The Hebrew University and as a research fellow with the Melchior Minerva Research Center for Macroeconomics and Growth.
Dr. Simhon has been the recipient of several research grants and serves as a reviewer for professional economic journals including the American Economic Review, the Journal of Economic Growth, and the European Economic Review among many others. Dr. Simhon received his PhD in economics from the University of Minnesota.
