The Trade and Technology Council is an ambitious effort to discuss and coordinate transatlantic policy approaches to emerging technology and address shared challenges from non-market economies. To date, its efforts have focused largely on coordinating sanctions and export controls in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine along with promoting supply chain resiliency for semiconductors and raw materials. As both the U.S. and EU consider new approaches to AI, data, digital trade, energy and climate policy, due diligence reporting requirements, and more, it is critical that these approaches are consistent and coherent to encourage economic growth and innovation on both sides of the Atlantic.
